Curbs Unlimited Care and Warranty
Care and Warranty
Thank you for choosing Curbs Unlimited. Please note the following care
instructions to further satisfy you with your new curb.
To achieve maximum strength in your new curb, it will benefit you to keep the
trench where your new curb was installed, damp. It is not necessary to do this,
but it will slow the curing process down and in turn will make your new curb
stronger. Please make sure you wait 6 to 8 hours, depending on
temperatures, to do this so your new curbing is not damaged. Test the curb by
tapping on the back side to make sure that it has set up before doing so. Use a
mist to get the trench wet. Make sure you do not use direct water pressure
during the first 24 hour period. Keep the ground wet for the next five
days.
Make sure to keep pets and all people away from new curbing for at least 24
hours. Although it will be hard to the touch at this point, the curb will
not be completely cured for 28 days. Do not allow people to walk on curb for the
first two weeks of the curing process, because cracking may occur.
Sod laying, sprinkler and landscaping work can be started 24 hours after
installation. However, it is not recommended because the curb is still setting
up and does not have much strength. If possible, wait 1 to 2 weeks before doing
any work around your new curb to prevent any damage. Never allow a truck or
tractor to drive over the curbing. Curbs Unlimited is not responsible for
any damage done by homeowners or landscapers. If you have a landscaper working
for you, caution him about protecting the curb from damage and warn him that it
is new curbing.
If it begins to rain within the first few hours of installation, care should be
taken to cover the curb with plastic. It depends on weather conditions as to how
fast the curb will set up. You can test the curb (as mentioned above) by tapping
on the backside of it to see if it can withstand the elements. Curbs Unlimited
will take precautions before leaving, but cannot always predict the weather.
Efflorescence is a white powder substance that appears occasionally on curbing.
It is caused by the water from sprinklers and rain storms. Although unsightly to
the eye, it will not damage the curb. Efflorescence varies depending on the
hardness and volume of the water that gets on the curb. A solution of 50/50
vinegar and water with a light brushing will remove the efflorescence.
During the curing process, you may notice a splotchy look on your curb. This is
normal. It is just the moisture escaping out of the curb.
After the curb is installed, there will be excessive cement between the curb and
the grass. This can be picked up by the homeowner or left in place. Since we
have not included a trip charge in the price of our curbing, we ask that the
homeowner take a few minutes to do this. The excess is all cut away from the
curb so it can be picked up and thrown away. It is difficult for Curbs
Unlimited to remove the excess while the cement is still wet, so please wait
a 24 hour period before doing so.
Warranty
Your new curbing will have a one year warranty against defects in material and
craftsmanship. If these defects occur, Curbs Unlimited (at their
discretion) will replace the section of curb at no charge. Cracking in concrete
is common due to many factors. Unfortunately, Curbs Unlimited is not
responsible for the warranty of cracks due to ground settling or movement.
Compaction is part of the process on new construction installation, but
depending on how deep the backfill of dirt is, there still could be some
settling. If this were to occur, this would be out of our control. If the curb
is damaged in some way (besides the ones covered by the warranty), repairs can
be made at the 100 foot minimum price. This warning is important to note:
repairs are difficult to make on colored, stamped and lighted curb. It is
impossible to get a perfect color and stamp to match. Sometimes the cure is
worse than the ill. A hair line crack is much less noticeable than a patch of
discoloration in the curb.
Curbs Unlimited will also not be responsible for any damage to sprinkler
lines and heads, telephone lines, cable tv or any other buried items.
Thank you for taking the time to read the care instructions and warranty. If you
have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Curbs Unlimited.
We look forward to doing business with you.
